ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED?: DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE!!

Praise God from whom all blessings flow. Praise Him because He is worthy to be praised. I am about to embark on a journey through the word of God many refuse to take on their own, they would rather depend on their feelings or on hearsay when it comes down to the question of “once saved always saved.” The whole question of “once saved always saved” boils down to this, can a person accept Christ as his Lord and savior then either backslide into sinful behavior without repentance or never stop such behavior in the first place and still reap the rewards of salvation, the reward being everlasting life with God in Heaven.
Some might say “why take a chance? Live a repentant Christian life to the best of your ability and stay in fellowship with God. That in part is my view also, but let’s see what the word of God says. Jesus says in Luke 9:62    2 And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.

He also said in Matthew 7:21- 27  21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

Jesus was letting us know that once we have been delivered from sin not to go back to our sinful lifestyle and even then only those who do the will of God will enter the kingdom of Heaven. God makes salvation available to us, it is up to us to grab hold of it. We don’t have to be perfect but when we fall short of the mark we must repent with Godly sorrow get up and keep on striving.
Jesus again says in Matthew 24:10-13   10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.
11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

It’s not just what you profess that gets you into Heaven but what you live  also. So according to scripture I will say it again, “why take a chance?” Make your salvation sure, live all you can for the Lord while you can. I can go on and on with this but I will end with,

Hebrews 10:26-31   26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
28 He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:
29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?
30 For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.
31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
